The Texas Apartment Association, which represents more than 10,700 members who develop, own and manage more than 1.8 million rental units in Texas, announced their unqualified endorsement of Chris DeCluitt for State Representative in District 56.

George B. Allen, Executive Vice President, said, “We have looked into the qualifications of the candidates and are pleased to endorse Chris DeCluitt for State Representative. We feel that his successful business background, his pro-growth and pro-jobs philosophy and his years of experience in governmental activities have best prepared him to represent the people of his district and the millions of Texas families that we represent.”

DeCluitt responded, “I am very pleased and proud to have the endorsement of the Texas Apartment Association. This respected organization effectively represents thousands of its members and millions of hard working Texans. I look forward to working with them if elected to serve District 56.”

Chris DeCluitt is a native Wacoan and a graduate of Waco High School, Texas A&M and the University of Tulsa Law School. He is President of the Sovereign Corporation, a local company that deals in property management. He is past Chairman of the Brazos River Authority board, (appointed by Governor Rick Perry), past chairman of the Waco Jaycees, and Waco Lodge #137 IOOF. He is Past Master of the J.H. Gurley Lodge #337, AF&AM. He has served on the board of directors of the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation. He has served as a Republican Precinct Chairman, Election Judge, State Convention Delegate (nine times), as the Senate District 22 State Republican Executive Committeeman and President of the McLennan County Republican Club. Chris and his wife Kristi have one daughter and one son and live in Waco.
